soy protein no good?

Zynapsin

Newbie
I read someone say that soy contains isoflavins that mimic estrogen in the body and it can be inflammatory and is very genetically modified. Seems like a lot of scare tactics to me but maybe I am wrong. Does anyone like this stuff? It seems to work good for me.

I do not use soy for those reasons. It is not actual estrogen but a phytoestrogen. It does bind to estrogen receptors but is does not have quite the same effect, I mean to say that it is weaker. This will differ among individuals. Even most whey proteins have soy lecithin in them, but some have sunflower lecithin. Certain foods such as pinto beans can have anti-estrogenic effects to help counter this. I do believe that if you include a lot of soy in your diet it can be detrimental to your testosterone, it is not just a scare tatic as soy is also heavily genetically modified. This is where the term soy-boy comes from. Almost all processed foods including beef jerky and even some pre-cooked roast chickens have soy added. Seriously start checking labels, soy is in almost everything, and also look into the incidence of soy being introduced and its correlation to the decline of testosterone in males. Again I personally would not take it. Is there a reason you do not like whey or other protein powders?

Why would anyone consume soy in the 1st place? First off soy can be inflammatory in the body it also is a allergen for a lot of people. Soybean oil is refined and extremely bad for you so really I don't see why anyone would need to mess around with soy. Soy is just another American farmer scam where they try to push it on people and it's in a lot of our foods just like dairy and just like gluten

I agree, I do not touch the stuff. I rarely eat processed food.

It's amount dependent. A small amount is ok for heart health
