if you herniated a disk then i wouldn't recommend deadlifts for a long time. sounds like from what you describe it is what happened. think of an ice cream sandwich getting smushed and pressed, that is what happened to your disc or multiple discs. i would stick to hot yoga for the next 3-4 months...
