Why does everything have to be black or white? Why don't you mix up your training? Do some light lifting and do some heavy lifting instead of just doing one or the other.
The key to steak is cooking it correctly. My advice is to leave it out on the counter for about an hour or two hours. Let the internal temperature rise a little bit so it cooks more evenly.
