carb supplements ?

Newbie
does anyone on here use carbs supplements? I would like to add some pure carbs to my pre and post workout shake to get some more in. I'm a skinnier guy. would dex be the one to get or is there something else you guys recommend. i prefer a powder or mix that i can easily blend vs. capsules.
 
this is as silly as the argument of real food vs. protein powders.

carb supplements are plain stupid unless you are a high level bodybuilder who uses HGH and insulin and need them to mix in with your shakes or what not.
 
Second what Steve is saying. Unless you’re pricking your finger 6x a day reading those glucose levels no need for a shake of carbs.

HOWEVER - sometimes you get sick and tired of oats, rice, sweet potatoes, etc and therefore it is perfectly fine to have some carb shakes in the pantry that you can down in a hurry.

I like Carbo Gain from Now Sports, it’s only Pure Maltodextrin which is what Mobster recommended. Solid product for $1 per serving.

Not in years. Maltodextrin worked fine

doesnt maltodextrin give you cancer?
 
I use carb supplements, along with whole dense nutrition carbs as well. It's all about timing and knowing when to use them. Carbs supplements are best for Pro-workout and Intra-workout.. You can also add a little bit of carb supplements to your already existing meal with carbs..
 
I do use them. I put maltodextrin in my post workout shake. Easiest and quickest way to get carbs and protein post workout. Its more convenient for me to hit my numbers for the day and works grrat for me. Some of us have busy professional careers and eating "real food" all day long just isn't feasible. Adapt your lifestyle to what works best for you
 
I am on the other side of things where I actually try to reduce carbs. If it was me, after training I would go home and cook a solid meal instead of having a shake.
 
If you can eat carbs, get them down.. You owe that you yourself. Use the supplements if you are truly in a pinch, driving, work, whatever..

Also, try blending oats and make them into a fine powder. Get a few plastic cheap bottles from Walmart, pre-fill 2-3 with the oat powder and so Gatorade powder, when you need it just add water and shake and slam. If you add water in advance it will thicken up, add water before you drink it this way you can slam it before it thickens, add some protein powder to it if need be. 25g of protein is all you need, any more will be a thick shake.

2-3 of these, including meals, you'll meet your macro count easily..

Topps mentioned sweat potatoes, I love them, I make them mashed and eat them down when on the go.. toss in a pinch of brown sugar with it, it's like candy.
