I wasn’t sure if I should post this here or in the supplements area. Please forgive me if it is in the wrong place.
I have an ambien prescription from my doctor. We have tried other prescriptions in the last but this is the only thing that gets me to sleep. I’ve read that long term use is not good so I’m looking for something that would be as effective. Melatonin does nothing for me. With one ambien at night I sleep like a baby. I wake up refreshed and ready to rock the day every single morning.
Any suggestions? I workout 5-6 days a week. About 12-14% body fat. 45 years old. 6 feet tall. 200 lbs. I’m in pretty good shape. I have a 6-pack without flexing. take 200mg of TRT every 7-10 days or 100mg every 5ish days.
I appreciate any help or suggestions
Hello and welcome to the forum,
I’d like to share my own experience. A few years ago, I was also prescribed Ambien by my doctor because I was struggling with sleep. For about a year, it definitely helped me fall asleep and stay asleep, but I didn’t like the side effects. I often felt a bit lethargic, and I really wanted to find an alternative.
I tried melatonin, glycine, calming teas, etc., but honestly, nothing worked for me. What finally made a real difference was building a consistent sleep routine.
- I go to bed at the exact same time every night.
- About 30 minutes before bed, I stop watching TV or looking at my phone.
- I read for about 15 minutes, and then 10 minutes before sleep I do some breathing exercises.
For several months, I used the Headspace app to guide me with meditation, which helped a lot. Nowadays I can do it without the app. It sounds very simple, but it truly changed my sleep quality, and it’s been working for years now.
I hope this might be helpful for you too!
