Warm the Oil, Save the Muscle

One of the most underrated topics I see barely discussed is oil temperature and how much it actually matters for PIP. Early on, I thought post-injection pain was just part of the game. Turns out a lot of that is avoidable. Cold oil is thicker, moves slower, and causes more tissue trauma. That alone can turn a clean pin into a sore lump that lingers for days and messes with training.

Warming the oil slightly before injecting makes a noticeable difference. Not heating it like you’re cooking it, just bringing it closer to body temp so it flows easier. Smoother push, less pressure in the muscle, less inflammation after. Simple physics, but it gets ignored.
Injection speed plays into this too. Even warm oil will cause issues if you’re rushing the pin. Slow and steady keeps the tissue from getting overwhelmed. Combine that with proper needle length, realistic oil volumes, and good site rotation, and PIP drops dramatically.

Carrier oil matters as well. Some people react differently to certain oils or higher concentrations. Not every sore injection is bad gear, but chronic PIP is usually a sign something needs adjusting, whether that’s volume, frequency, or technique.

The biggest takeaway for me has been treating injections as part of recovery, not something to brute force through. When pins are clean and pain free, training quality stays high and consistency gets easier.

Do you warm your oil or pin it room temp?
What methods have actually reduced your PIP long term?
How much does injection technique vs compound choice matter for you?
