how much does strength drop as you age?

I’m wondering if you could give you some insight when it comes to strength dropping as you get older.
I’m 45 years old and I haven’t weight trained very much over the past few years and I recently got back into the gym
I used to be able to bench around 350 lbs and now I can barely do one plate. How much of that has to do with getting older versus how much of that has to do with time I spent away from the gym? And what experiences have you had with strength decreasing as you get older?

for some it drops very fast it just depends

I'm in my 40s and I feel like I'm still getting stronger

some of the strongest guys are almost 60

it depends if you keep training then over time you should continue to improve

keep your diet solid and keep your training consistent

if you're joints and tendons and ligaments are not doing well then you will have a hard time improving

I would say it depends on the individual some people peak in their 20s or 30s and some people will keep getting stronger as they age
