Top bodybuilding routine for a power lifter

I've been reading online about power lifting and I want to get into it. I've never power lifted before. I usually just do total body workouts and I just train for endurance and for good lean muscle mass but I want to get stronger.
Do you think with power lifting I should stick to something like a five by five and keep it simple or do you think I should go more low repetition and stick to compound movements on every training session?
 
It's important to have a spot at home where you can have a thick mat to go heavy. You don't want to lift too heavy in the gym and drop the weight; you'll get in trouble.
