3 day split tips?

I’m looking to do a simple 3 day split
maybe push-pull-legs or maybe push-legs- pull etc.
Do you have any tips when it comes to doing this type of split routine is there any rules as to how long you can do it before you have to switch it out and you rotate your split days or do you keep them the same?

i would go 4 days on 3 days off
much better
 
muscle development comes down to more than what you just do in the weight room
 
sometimes you've got to listen to your body and take time off when it asks
