difference between high and low reps?

What are the differences in doing high rep sets and low rep sets?
Will it build the muscle differently or is it just a matter of getting my heart rate up and burning more calories?
I’m trying to learn a bit more about how our bodies work. When I do high reps I notice I get more of a burn

on the surface it might seem that way but it isn't necessarily the case.

i would pin the blame more on genetics and diet. some guys are more powerlifter types and some are more physique types

Low = strength
Medium = muscle
High = endurance
