L-glutamine and protein synthesis

I was reading that L-glutamine is good to use because it is linked to protein synthesis, they say that it prevents your muscles from being eaten up by feeding them in the cells. so when you are doing an intense workout the glutamine will replenish you. it also says it is an important nutrient for your intestines. is all this true?

there are a lot of amino acids doing things in our body. we have them present in huge amounts already in our american diet so supplementing more is completely unnecessary and in a lot of cases counter productive
It is really better for the gut than anything but I don't recommend wasting your money. You can reset your gut with fasting and increase protein synthesis just though eating protein in your diet. I don't like to over complicate it.
